About the role

Tozers LLP is a leading firm of solicitors with offices in Exeter, Teignmouth and Newton Abbot offering an extensive legal service to businesses and individuals both locally and nationally. We are recognised in the Legal 500 and Chambers UK legal directories in a number of fields.

Tozers has a strong and well-established litigation team, acting for clients locally and nationally in England and Wales. Our work spans both commercial and residential property disputes, with a diverse client base that includes developers, landlords, charities, businesses and private individuals.

As part of our continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Senior Associate or Partner to join our property litigation team in Exeter.

What you’ll be doing

This is a senior role with genuine scope, responsibility and flexibility. You will handle a broad and interesting caseload of commercial and residential property litigation, including:

• Landlord and tenant disputes
• Lease renewals and terminations
• Dilapidations
• Possession claims
• Property related contractual disputes
• Development and boundary disputes
• Agricultural and rural tenancies

The team enjoys high quality work including referrals from our commercial and residential property colleagues as well as from our sector teams: Charities, Agriculture, Residential and Holiday Parks and Residential Providers. The team also has a growing reputation amongst property agents, which is leading to an increase in external referrals.

The role offers the opportunity to play a key part in the ongoing development of the team, with involvement in strategy, supervising and mentoring junior lawyers and strengthening client relationships.

The team works 2 days a week in the Exeter office (currently Tuesdays and Thursdays) and there is flexibility to work more regularly in the office if you prefer.

What we’re looking for

We would welcome applications from Partners, perhaps looking to relocate to the South West and join a collaborative, forward thinking firm; or Senior Associates who are ready to take the next step in their career.

We are looking for someone who has a desire to lead and grow the property and land litigation work we do, further develop links with agents and other referrers and who has the skills to manage a team. You will work closely with other teams in other sectors to manage existing relationships and forge new ones.

What you’ll have

Ideally, you will have 6+ years of experience of property litigation. You will be commercially minded and have excellent client care skills. A proven track record of leading a team would be desirable. A desire, and the skills, to proactively develop the property litigation work we do will be essential.
