We act for clients in a wide range of claims and specialise in complex and high value claims arising from birth injuries. This position offers an opportunity to learn from a very experienced team of specialist lawyers. We also offer hybrid/flexible working arrangements.

We are offering an exceptional, fully funded opportunity for law and non-law graduates to begin their legal careers as a Graduate Solicitor Apprentice within our Clinical Negligence team. This apprenticeship will enable you to gain hands-on experience working alongside specialist solicitors on complex medical negligence cases, while completing a structured training pathway towards qualification.

This opportunity will be for a fixed term covering the duration of the Graduate Solicitor Apprenticeship (typically 27-30 months), commencing in September 2026 and ending upon completion of the SQE assessments and Qualifying Work Experience portfolio.

What you’ll be doing

Candidates who meet the government funding criteria at the commencement of training.
, you will be fully supported through the Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE), with all training and the examination costs funded by the apprenticeship levy. You will combine practical, on-the-job learning with formal study, developing the legal knowledge and skills required to succeed in a specialist area of law.

Throughout the programme, you will assist with a wide range of tasks including reviewing medical evidence, drafting legal documentation, liaising with clients and experts, and supporting case preparation.

The successful completion of the apprenticeship you can qualify as a solicitor with valuable, real-world experience in Clinical Negligence.

You will work four days a week in the firm and have one day a week to study in line with Educational and Skills Funding Authority.
What we’re looking for

We’re looking for someone with a friendly, approachable, and proactive “can do” attitude who is keen to learn and develop within a busy legal team. This role offers the opportunity to gain a wide range of experience while supporting our lawyers on real client matters.

You will be confident communicating with clients, ensuring they are kept informed and supported, particularly when our lawyers are engaged elsewhere. Strong interpersonal skills and a professional approach are essential.

To succeed in this role, you will have:

What you’ll have

Ideally you will hold a 2:1 degree. Candidates with a non-law degree should have also achieved, or be on track to achieve, at least a pass in the GDL.

Evidence of Grade 6/B or above in Maths and English (or equivalent) at GCSE is essential.

Provisional grades will be considered at the initial application stage.

It would be an advantage if you have previous experience of working in a clinical negligence environment. Previous legal work experience is desired, and evidence of a genuine interest in clinical negligence law is essential.

You will be literate and numerate, have excellent communication and IT skills. You will be able to work on your own initiative, as well as under supervision, and will be happy to adapt to the requirements of the tasks facing you. Ideally you will be able to demonstrate your problem-solving skills and how you have used these in your previous positions.
